The richest tennis ball cricket tournament in the world



Tennis Ball cricket has been pioneered from the densely populated Pakistani and Indian cities.

The major hubs of tennis ball cricket tournament is Mumbai, Kolkata, Karachi etc. in the Indian subcontinent.

The reason for this is that the protective gears are not so common in such places and secondly, playing with cricket solid ball is risky in dense neighbourhood as a result of which, Tennis ball cricket has taken a precedent over the normal cricket ball in Indian and Pakistani cities. It became popular in the early 1990s, and is responsible for grooming the talents of the cricketers such as Wasim Akram, Sachin Tendulkar and Shoaib Akhtar at an early age.

Over the years, cricket has found its way in the Middle East too due to the vast convergence of the people from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh etc.

As a result of this, there are lots of cricket tournaments are being held in such places on weekends and holidays.

Petromann a UAE based company is responsible for hosting one of such tennis ball cricket tournament in the Sharjah stadium which found support from many Internation cricket players like Wasim Akram and Virender Sehwag.

After two tournaments, it has become one of the richest tennis ball cricket tournament offering a total prize money of Dirhams 2,50,000.

There are many Internationl cricket teams specially from Middle East countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait who take part in these tournaments.



This year, this tournament is going to start from 2nd of April, 2019 and will end on 5th April, 2019.

The world's biggest tournament has already completed two seasons which are played at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah. The tournament is staged under the aegis of the Sharjah Cricket Council, under the leadership of Waleed Bukhatir.

Former Pakistan paceman and captain Wasim Akram and former India star Virender Sehwag have been the brand ambassadors for the tournament.
